What is COVID-19?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness caused by a virus that can spread easily throughout communities. Symptoms may include fever, dry cough, tiredness, fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, aches and pains, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste or smell, a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes, chest pain or pressure, loss of speech or movement.

EC Care Commitment to prevent the spread of Coronavirus

EC care is committed to ensuring the ongoing health and safety of our residents.

Please, help reduce the risk of infection by following a range of robust infection prevention and control measures implemented by EC Care. Observe and respect our visitor arrangements and safety precautions. This is a shared responsibility and we must all remain extremely vigilant.

EC care will be maintaining a cautious and continuously staged approach.

Please do not visit:

  • If you are unwell, with any illness or symptoms, even if they are mild
  • If you have recently returned from overseas travel to any country – self-isolate for days recommended by law

  • If you have been in contact with someone who has had a confirmed or suspected case of coronavirus, or who has declared that they have travelled overseas recently.

Simple steps to stop the spread:

  • Download the covidsafe app
  • Complete the sign-in sheet before you enter the home
  • Undertake a temperature check by staff
  • Wear the appropriate PPE or cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser
  • Adhere to the timeframes for each visit
  • You may only visit in the designated areas
  • Keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from your loved one and others in the home
  • Respect our staff and comply with the safety measures.
  • Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Continue healthy habits (drink water, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and get enough sleep)
  • Avoid close contact with people outside your immediate family or household members
